Arame is a good introduction to seaweed becaue of its mild taste. It blends well with other flavors and is a rich source of iron. Arame can be steamed, sauteed, added to soup, or eaten in salads. Arame is also available as a tincture. Arame and all other seaweed, is a rich source of calcium, zinc and iodine. It is also a good source of Lignans which help fight cancer. Because it comes from the sea, seaweed contains sodium. It should be avoided by anyone on a sodium-restricted diet. Wakame has the highest sodium content, with kelp and laver having significantly less.
Why do our customers love our exclusive herbal healing and remedy tinctures? Well we pack our tinctures jars with 30%-40% full of our choice picked organic herbs to allow for maximum extraction and a more powerfully drawn tincture. Many larger companies will use only 25% herb to liquid ratio's which makes our tinctures stronger and a better value for your dollar. We also sell our herb tinctures in larger two ounce dropper bottles compared to the more common 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce bottles.
Most seaweeds are green, brown, or red. The two major groups of seaweeds that people know are wracks (brown) and kelps (green, such as sea lettuce). Some people have also heard of Carrageen Moss and Dulse (red). Red and brown live exclusively in saltwater, but the green may also live in fresh water. The Sargasso Sea is a large ocean in the western Atlantic made up of seaweeds. The drift plants of the genus Sargassum accumulate there. Ecologically, seaweeds are very important. In most oceans, they dominate the rocky inter tidal. They dominate rocky surfaces in the sub tidal in temperate and polar regions. They can be found as deep as 250 meters in waters that are particularly clear. Seaweeds are found in all the world’s oceans and seas. They are not poisonous and many of them are considered to be great food delicacies. The main types of seaweeds are Nori, Kombu, and Wakame. Arame seaweed is the mildest tasting of the sea vegetables.
